Pray for Aunt Scottie Most of the people we meet during our time on this Earth, we forget. But there are those rare individuals who shine such a bright light, their illumination stays with you She is actually my brother in law's aunt, but we all call her Aunt Scottie. I first learned of her via food. She is famous for her holiday cheese danish and red velvet cake. Aunt Scottie, who by the way is 92, has been and still is a cosmetologist for over 70 years. She still operates Scottie's Beauty Shop in Long View, a suburb of Hickory, N.C. Last spring, in an interview she did with the Hickory Daily Record, she said, "When it comes to being a cosmetologist, I believe the first 20 years was beautification, the next 20 years was preservation, and from here on out, it's restoration." Aunt Scottie says business has slowed over the last few years because many of her regular clients have died or are in bad shape. But like everything else, it doesn't seem to bother her. She always has the most positive outlook on everything. I have never heard her judge. Aunt Scottie always has good things to say. I have also never heard her say a discouraging word. I marvel at her perseverance, her continued curiosity about how things work, and her kind heart. She is a Christian and her light shines on everyone she's around. Earlier this year, doctors found a cancerous mass just below her lung. It has started to effect her breathing. I ask that you please say a special prayer for her, that the Lord will heal her body, so she can continue to serve Him even more. She is a dear lady and we all love her very much. Aunt Scottie is very unique and makes this world a better place for us all.
