Building Your Ark Let's say you're listening to your i-pod one day and a voice comes over your music and into your headphones. This voice identifies himself as the Lord God almighty and He has a specific task for you. You of course dismiss it as a practical joke, that someone loaded that file into your i-pod. Then you get in your car and hear the same message on your radio. Hmmm. Then you receive in the mail a card that reads, "I am the Lord God almighty and I have a specific task for you. " At this point you know it's a joke so you dismiss it, again. Finally, in the middle of the night, a bright, shiny figure appears at the foot of your bed repeating the same thing, "I am the Lord God almighty and I have a specific task for you." At this point you're ready to sit down with any counselor in sight to go over these strange occurrences. In fact, that is exactly what you do and the counselor looks at you and says, "I am the Lord God almighty and I have a specific task for you." You immediately leave in a cold sweat, head home and pray. While praying, the voice of the Lord tells you His specific task. It's to build an ark, exactly like the one Noah built, because in 7 days, the rains will come and eventually all life will be destroyed on the face of the Earth. The next moment is what we used to call a "do what moment." That's when you hear something so incredible, you go "Do What?" So you consider the request, better yet you consider the source. You also remember that the Lord's covenant with Noah promised that He would never again destroy all life on Earth by a flood. (Genesis 9:11) But then the Earth could rain something else other than water to cause destruction. But still, this is 2007 and modern technology can handle most anything coming our way. So, you still do not believe and you do nothing. Then, 4 days after your counseling session, you receive in your mailbox plans for an ark. But this is not like anything that's ever been imagined. This ark, while the same size as Noah's, is to be constructed with high tech materials. These materials could withstand most every disaster that might come its way, from a flood of water to a flood of meteorites from the sky. But still, you think someone is playing a very elaborate joke on you. The seventh day finally arrives and you get up with a twinge of dreaded anticipation. The morning of the 7th day started like any other. The sun rose, coffee made, breakfast served with work the focus of the day. Around lunchtime you start to realize that this really was just a trick played out in your mind. Then, just as you're leaving for lunch, a moment before you leave your office, the voice returns and say's, " I am the Lord God almighty. I gave you a plan and a warning but neither was heeded. Now you along with the rest of this Earth will be rained on by fire from above." Just as the last word was said the fire from above started to come down and your last thought was, "Why did I not listen and believe." Would you have listened and believed? In today's society, it's easy to block out the unpleasant things in life. It's common to filter out all the inconveniences that come our way. We live in a world that is to advanced and just too busy to listen for and to the Lord. Besides, if we hear Him at all, it's dismissed immediately, especially if it's something we don't want to hear. We can always blame others or just plain old demons on all our troubles. As you go through this day, seek the Lord with all your heart and find a quiet place to worship. Above all, we need to strive to be as faithful to Him as He is to us. He is worthy to be praised. Have a blessed day.
