Can We At Least Recite The Pledge of Allegiance? Hope you had a blessed weekend and you are adjusting to standard time. Today, we start out the week with a thought on prayer. Did you pray today? Did you pray yesterday. Do you pray, ever? I never prayed for 47 years. Oh sure, I would bow my head the infrequent times I appeared in church so it would look like I was praying, but I never believed it would do any good and usually was thinking about something else entirely. Now, I can't imagine a day without prayer. Usually, several times a day. I also pray with folks at The Outreach Center in Morganton , N.C. on Tuesday nights. We push groceries out to the clients car, unload them and then ask if we can pray with them. In the 2 years I've been helping, very few have refused prayer. Even if they first say no, they will eventually say yes. Most are hungry for prayer and it's when you ask for prayer concerns that you hear stories of brokenness, tragedy, remorse, and guilt. One night a lady broke into tears as she told me about her husband striking her in anger. Her name is Patty. Please pray for her. Don't ever discount the power of prayer. I've seen firsthand what it can do. Pray. Pray daily. Pray for your friends, your family, your loved ones, your enemies, those that hate you...pray. We will pray for you or someone you know. Send your prayer requests to prayer@amazinggraceradio.com By the way, a friend of mine did have an Outreach Center client who adamantly refused prayer. After he realized this guy was not going to change his mind, my friend Steve asked, "Well, can we at least say the Pledge of Allegiance together?" He agreed, and there they were, both under God's roof in the parking lot of The Outreach Center, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Praise the Lord! Monday Scripture Luke 18:1 1 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. Job 22:27 27 You will pray to him, and he will hear you, James 5:16 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
