The Crock Pot God

One of the hardest things to accept and learn is that God's time is not the same as our time. All through the Bible there are stories of long perseverance. Jesus tells us to not lose heart, faint, or grow weary. But often we do lose heart and wonder if the Lord is hearing our prayers.

My friend Don talks frequently about how today, in this world, we want only a microwave God. A God that will answer our prayers in about 2 minutes or less. But Don knows better than anyone that the Lord is much closer to being a crock pot God, a God that is slow and acting in his own time, but delivers a mighty feast if we can endure to the end.

I've known Don for about 3 years and he has always prayed for a relationship with his daughter. For so many years his daughter would not even speak to him on the phone. But Don kept on praying and believing in a miracle restoration as only the Lord can bring. He never gave up. But it has not been easy. But then James says in James 1:2,

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

I don't know if Don considered it pure joy, but I think it did bring him and myself closer to the Lord. God's ways are not ours and his time is not our time. Sometimes that's hard to accept. But I do know that Don's long estranged daughter, who is now 18 years old, is now talking with her father daily and coming to live with him next month. It took years of prayer. Perseverance. Praying. Standing on the faith of God Almighty and knowing and believing that through Him ALL things are possible. God made a way when we could see only walls.

Please keep praying for Don and his daughter and never, ever give up. The Lord might be a crock pot God, but He is true and faithful.

Everyone here at Amazing Grace Radio pray that this will be a day when the Lord draws close to you as you draw close to Him. Be Blessed.
