Heaven on Earth

A few days ago I was in a weekly meeting listening to someone speak. I had heard this person speak many times of his faith in God and even heard him often quote Jesus and other parts of the New and Old Testament. That's why I was so surprised when he spoke of heaven.

I had made the statement that I believe when worry comes our way, we should remember we are not home yet, that our life on this Earth is just the rehearsal for the final show. At that point my friend said that he must disagree with me. I asked him what was the disagreement. He said he believes we are home and that this is heaven. I paused for a moment to see if he smiled because I knew he must be joking. This man used to teach in a Catholic school and is always quoting the Bible. Surely he was joking. But he wasn't. He believes that this is it. Heaven is not waiting for believers on the other side, it is our life here on this Earth.

I was stunned. I asked him if he really believed that. He does. How sad it would be to think that this is heaven, that when we die there is nothing else. I plan to talk more with my friend. I ask that you please pray for him and everyone else who does not believe that the Lord has a place prepared for us after our life here is finished.
