Remembering What He Told You to Forget- Pt. 2

There was much reaction to yesterday's Daily Thought and Message. It seems many struggle with the memory of past failures and indiscretions. Someone told me their sins have been so great and they have lost so much, that they are sure no one loves or cares for them. I replied that I'm not sure of the natural, but I am certain of the supernatural...that the Lord loves them more than anyone on this Earth can even start to comprehend.

It's probably the most well know Bible scripture, but it's so true..."For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Most everyone has heard John 3:16 but I wonder how many have actually stopped to consider the incredible love....that God Almighty, the creator of the past, future, and all we know came to this Earth and became one of us, to save us.

If you let the past pronounce you guilty in the present, you'll be ridden with guilt in the future also. It's a rough sea to navigate and sooner or later you'll be swallowed up. Your past has been wiped clean by the blood of the cross, so let it go. Draw close to Him and He will draw close to you. Take all your cares, your sorrows, your guilt and toss them into the sea of life and He will carry them away. Give all you have to Him and walk in His faith and you will marvel as you see your Lord and Savior move in your life. I mentioned yesterday the wonderful book by Henri Nouwen, "Turn My Mourning Into Dancing-Finding Hope in the Hard Times." Here's another passage:

"The paradox of expectation is that those who believe in tomorrow can better live today; those who expect joy to come out of sadness can discover the beginnings of a new life amid the old; those who look forward to the returning Lord can discover him already in their midst."

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:5

So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. Hebrews 9:28
