Scriptures-Continued Today we continue with some favorite scriptures. (Yesterday's are below) I also love the wisdom of Proverbs, like: Above all else, guard your heart, 24 Put away perversity from your mouth; 25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, 26 Make level paths for your feet 27 Do not swerve to the right or the left; Proverbs 4:23-27 _______________________ Trust in the LORD with all your heart 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, Proverbs 3:5-6 _______________________ Forget the former things; Isaiah 43:18 __________________ He gives strength to the weary Isaiah 40:29 ____________________ And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. Mark 11:25 ___________________ This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. Luke 22:20 _________________ 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' Matthew 25:40 ____________________ Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4perseverance, character; and character, hope. Romans 5:1-4 I guess I will stop with these. I could keep listing them for a very long time. I think we all have our favorite scriptures, that speak directly to our heart and soul. How often do you really read the scriptures? If you're like me it's not often enough. We all have such busy lives. Often, I sit down with my Bible at night and just can't keep my eyes open to read. A very sad excuse but true. So today, before our eyes become heavy, I thought I would share some of my favorite scriptures from the Bible. I must start in Matthew with Matthew 5. I love reading the Beatitudes. They keep me focused on how I should be living. They keep me humble. They give me hope. 1Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2and he began to teach them saying: I also draw strength from the book of Daniel. My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O king." Daniel 6:22 Do not be afraid, O man highly esteemed," he said. "Peace! Be strong now; be strong." My favorite book in the Bible is James. I could list the whole thing here, but here are just a few of my favorites. Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4 My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. 21Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. James 1:19-21 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:7-8 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. James 4:14 I also enjoy Revelation. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. 12His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
