The Casual Christian Yesterday we talked about making a difference and getting involved. I never used the term lazy, but perhaps I should have because I really think many people are when it comes to helping those less fortunate. Many also don't want to recognize such a great need, because denial justifies indifference. It's sad to say, but that indifference is also active in the Christian faith. I heard the term "Casual Christian" for the first time last week. I asked the person using the term to explain. He said it was the individual that sometimes attends church, has read parts of the Bible and agrees with most of it, and thinks you'll get to Heaven by simply being good. I told him that's casual, but by my understanding and belief, not a Christian. I was saved only 2 1/2 years ago and when I say saved, I mean the Lord literally saved me from an eternity in Hell. He caught me as I slipped off the end of my rope, lifted me up and transformed my life. That transformation is not static, it doesn't get to a point and stop. It grows and strengthens everyday. I know what the terms "saved" and "born again" mean because they both describe me. Jesus said you must be born again. The old must be cut away. You must keep your focus on Christ. That doesn't sound like a "Casual Christian." Whether you're a "Casual Christian" or just completely lost, ask Jesus to come into your life and reside in your heart as your Lord and Savior. Acknowledge and repent your sins, read the Bible and pray. Stay focused on Him and marvel as He starts moving in your life. It will not happen overnight, but it will happen. I honestly believe God is building up His kingdom before the rapture of the church and the commencement of the End Times. He is calling together His army. It will not be an army of "Casual Christians."
