~Believe in God~

"Take the rod; and you and your brother Aaron assemble the congregation and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it may yield its water. You shall thus bring forth water for them out of the rock and let the congregation and their beasts drink." [NUMBERS 20:8] [NAS]

The Lord is a “God of Miracles.” He spoke the Word and created the universe and all that is in it. What man can do certainly pales to anything God can do! Here in this story is where Moses, with God’s guidance and help, leads God’s people, the Israelites, out of slavery in Egypt . They were in the wilderness for forty years and during that time they were a “bunch of complainers.” If you look into the Scriptures you will see that God took care of them and gave them all they needed.

"I have led you forty years in the wilderness; your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandal has not worn out on your foot. [DEUTERONOMY 29:5] [NAS]

I’m reminded of the song that has the name and chorus, “He’s all I need, He’s all I need.” You know there is a lot of truth in this song, “Yes, JESUS is all I (we) need.”

Anyway, back to the story. There was no water for the congregation and they appeared before Moses and Aaron. (Numbers 20:2) What is the first thing Moses and Aaron did? Look at verse 6; ……..fell on their faces. Then the glory of the LORD appeared to them. Now look at verse 7, “and the LORD spoke to Moses, saying.” Then the Lord advised Moses what to do in verse 8. (See above) Moses and Aaron humbled and submitted themselves before the Lord, saying, “What do you want us to do and how do we do it?”

How many times do we humble and submit ourselves before God? Asking, Lord, “What do you want me to do and how do you want me to do it?” Are we trying to do everything on our own and in the flesh? Folks, it can’t be done without God. Look to and call upon His name in all things, no matter how small. He loves you and cares for you.
