“Dewey Fox rides Cycle North Carolina 2007”

Dewey Fox, age 65, of Morganton, N. C. rode his bicycle in the Mountain to Sea Bicycle Trip of North Carolina, and it’s called “Cycle North Carolina 2007.” The trip was from West Jefferson, N. C. to Currituck, N. C. and he biked from September 30 to October 6, 2007. Along the way overnight accommodations, mostly by his camping tent, were in the following towns, West Jefferson, Elkin, Greensboro, Mebane, Roanoke Rapids, Edenton, and Currituck. This is a ride of unmatched beauty of our beautiful state of North Carolina from the mountains to the sea.
The trip was a total of 492 miles for Dewey over a seven day period. The daily cycling mileage was from 50 to 106 miles, depending on the destination or route. The mileage above included one day that he rode a “Century,” which is 100 miles in a day. This was the first time that Dewey had ridden a “Century” of 100 miles in one day. Dewey generally rode four to seven hours a day. There were over 1000 riders in the group with an average age of 53. Youngest was two years old, pulled in a small trailer behind her father’s bike. The oldest was in his eighties. Cycle North Carolina (CNC) is a fully supported bicycle and camping tour of North Carolina. Cycle North Carolina is a yearly event in its ninth year of riding the state of North Carolina. A different route and new towns are chosen each year. The ride is always scheduled the first week in October. The event is not a race; everyone rides at their own pleasure down and up scenic back county road with minimal traffic. Stopping in some of the oldest towns in North Carolina where their history is rich in culture and the people are nice.
