Are You a Rag Doll? by Dewey Fox
Scripture verse: so that we no longer may be infants, tossed to and fro and carried about by every wind of doctrine, in the dishonesty of men, in cunning craftiness, to the wiles of deceit. (Ephesians 4:14 MKJV)
A rag doll can be bent into many shapes. Their legs and arms can be bent, their back bent into many angles and shapes. Sometimes our religion is like this rag doll, our doctrine is being bent daily, and depending on whom we talked to last or which way the wind is blowing. We cannot be a honor and glory to God if we are as this rag doll, no structure, no back bone. We may be weak when it comes to our beliefs. Being a follower of Jesus Christ is more than being a rag doll, more than going to church, more than being a member of a church. It’s total commitment to God and His commandments. Jesus Christ does not want us to be rag dolls!
Let us review some questions noted below. How would you answer them? How about your commitment to Jesus Christ? Can it be bent into many shapes and angles? Are you being tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine? Do you believe anything and everything you hear or someone tells you? Are you checking out these changing winds of doctrine? How about our strength to stand-up for our Lord and Savior?
Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. (Ephesians 6:10 MKJV) The devil is very cunning and if we do not have God, then the devil will move in. Look at how Jesus describes the devil in John 8:44. You are of the Devil as father, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not abide in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it. (John 8:44 MKJV) As you can see there are no kind words to describe the devil and Jesus told it like it is.
Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:11 MKJV) Be filled with the Holy Spirit; spend time in prayer with God and read, yes read His Word daily. Never let up because the devil will not. Check each doctrine out with Bible in hand.
Just remember Solo Scriptura, Latin for “The Bible Only.”
Until the next time, blessings,
Brother Dewey E. Fox
