~Where is Your Faith? ~

by Dewey Fox

And He said to them, "Where is your faith?" They were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, "Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?" [LUKE 8:25] [NAS]

~The Word Faith~

In the King James Version of the Bible, the word “Faith” is used 247 times, but surprisingly only 2 times in the Old Testament and the other 245 times are of course in the New Testament. This does not count the times another variation of faith is used in the Bible, such as faithful, faithfulness, etc.

~Today is the Day~

Today is a great day to check out where our faith really is. What are we putting our faith in? Where are we putting our faith? Hopefully, it is Jesus Christ. There are so many examples in the Bible of faith; I hope to share some of them with you in some future writings. Today I would like to share some comments with you about what faith is.

~But first, what is faith? ~

Let us look at this list of what Faith is: Faith is real, Faith is a gift, Faith is the life of Christ, Faith is stepping where there is no place to step, Faith is victory, Faith is endurance, Faith is the opposite of fear, Faith is pleasing God, Faith is Bible living, Faith is salvation, Faith is the authority of God, Faith is complete surrender, and finally Faith is seeing the unseen – the invisible. -Taken from Lester Roloff list of thirty.-

If you look at Hebrews 11:1 it says about the same thing, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (HEBREWS 11:1 MKJV)

~Faith is~

One dictionary definition of “Faith” is, “Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.” The synonym for faith would be belief, meaning almost the same thing in most instances. The Christian definition as recorded in the dictionary is “The theological virtue defined as secure belief in God and a trusting acceptance of God’s will.”

~One Short Faith Story ~ Couldn’t Resist~ ”Jesus Stills the Sea”~ Luke 8:22-25 KJV~

22 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.

23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.

24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.

25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

Many times the Bible speaks for itself and I think this is one of those times. The Master was not worried about the boisterous seas, He was taking His nap. “Where is your faith?”
