God's Love by Pastor Holly Johnson
God’s love is truly incomprehensible. He loves us enough to overlook our faults and inconsistencies, and even knowing who and what we are, He gave His son to die for us. What unconditional love! Max Lucado once said “You can no more die for your own sins than you can solve world hunger” This statement stirred me to think deeply about the Father’s love. Every week at The Outreach Center in Morganton , N.C. , we provide groceries to nearly 1000 families, and every week more families are added. We can in no way even begin to solve the hunger crisis here in North Carolina , much less the entire world. The Father sent His son to die for the sins of the entire human race. Incomprehensible! I am so thankful that He knows our weaknesses and He gives us only what we can handle. Our earthly fathers love us enough to not give us tasks beyond our abilities. Our heavenly father also does that for us. God loves us too much to overwhelm us with being “in charge”. He created us and knows what we are capable of accomplishing. He never sets us up to fail, only to succeed! In Stephen Covey’s book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People he states that we should “begin with the end in mind”. This is a powerful concept to a Christian, reminding us that everything we do should be examined in light of the effects it will have on our eternity with Jesus Christ. Knowing He has given us His best, we must strive to give Him our best. It is His love that will sustain us and empower us to live effectively in everything that we do. I once heard a sermon on “Praise” and received a revelation about the importance and purpose of our praises unto the Lord. The Lord does not command our praise because He is a prideful, egotistical God. When we praise Him, our enemies are scattered and we are filled with unspeakable joy and peace. So in effect, even though it is “all about Him”, everything He does and everything He asks us to do is for our good. It is “all about Him” and He is all about “loving us”. What a mighty God we serve!
