Peace In The Midst Of The Storm
Have you every faced something that you thought you would not make it through? Well, if you live long enough you are going to face times of trouble and turmoil. In the midst of the most difficult times it is comforting to know that you are not alone. God said that He would never leave you nor forsake you, and that He would stick closer to you than a brother. There is nothing in this world that can separate you from the love of God. There are no valleys too deep and no mountains too high that would put you out of His reach. On a recent visit to North Carolina, we visited one of my favorite places. It is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. As we were hiking in Gingercake Acres there was such a calm on me. The trail was grown up and we couldn’t see very well but as long as we stayed on the right path it eventually brought us out to the most spectacular view. Although my family and I are going through difficult times and our visit was not for “vacation” God is the peace in the midst of the storm. It doesn’t matter how hard big the storm is God is bigger. I was reminded of Psalms 23 where it says, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for He is with me. To know that the Creator of the universe is with me and He cares about what I go through is indescribable. Sometimes the paths are not easy but with patients and perseverance we will get to the place were we need to be. God is no respecter of persons and He cares about you and what you are going through. Even the smallest situation He is concerned about. Even if it feels like the world around you is caving in and everybody has turned on you, there is One that will never leave you. Just keep your faith in Him and walk in His ways. He will take that which was meant for destruction and turn it around for good. All things are possible with Him. He brought water from a rock, parted the Red Sea, delivered Daniel from the lion’s den, and what you are facing He will bring you through. In Scripture the disciples were out on the water in a boat and a storm rose up. Not just any storm but one that caused fishermen to be afraid. They were terrified and didn’t know what to do when someone realized that Jesus was with them. So they went and woke Him. He calmed the storm with just His words. What a picture this is of our lives. We struggle with not knowing what to do when a storm arises in our lives, but all we need to do is realize that the Peace Speaker is with us. So the next time you start to panic about something in your life just remember that Jesus is with you.
