Press In, Press Through, Press On

by Pastor Timothy Fortune

In a false sense of hope we fantasize that if we had enough money, a big expensive house, the right car, knew the right person, or had all the paraphernalia that is attached to “being successful” we would be on easy street. However, if you plan to accomplish the will of God for your life, regardless of how young or old you are in your walk with Christ, you will never be on easy street. Why? Well, because it doesn’t exist. 2 Timothy 3:12 says, “Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” Psalms 34:19 says, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous…”

At all levels of the Christian walk there will be opposition. As long as there is opposition, we will be in the heat of the battle advancing His Kingdom. Paul constantly was facing some sort of trouble. Joshua was fighting most all his life, and we are in the fight of faith.

The good news about opposition and the fight is that we are winners in Jesus. We simply need to press through whatever we are facing and press onward. Opposition comes. Instead of griping and complaining about it, press through allowing God to strengthen you and reveal unto you His glory. Stand strong in your faith. Be confident that “if God be for you who can stand against you?” A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come unto you. Will it be easy? NO!!! But you can overcome.

The enemy will tell you, you’re not strong enough, ask you, who do you think you are, or remind you of your last sin. Don’t receive that from him, he is the father of lies. Simply remind him of his future and that you were bought with the precious blood of Jesus and belong to Jehovah. You are loved and accepted in Jesus.

The secret to overcoming is press in, press through, and press on. Press into God. Don’t turn from Him; seek Him even more. From Him you will draw the strength to press through whatever you are facing, knowing that He is with you. Finally, you will come through only to press on to the next challenge. With each victory comes a certain strength that prepares you for what lies ahead. When facing the next giant, as David, you can say that God has delivered you from “your” bear and “your” lion so He will deliver you from this giant. The rest of Psalms 34:19 says, “But the Lord delivers him out of them all.” Remember opposition and trials come but press in, press through, and press on.
